Job Description
As the Controller, you will play an essential hands:on role on the Accounting management team. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will participate in, oversee, and guide the performance and continued development of the accounting and finance department in the following areas:
:Month:end / Year:end close and reporting.
:Process re:engineering (efficiency).
:Disbursement cycle management (AP, Cash).
:Vendor payment management (including 1099 Agents).
:Payroll.
:Tax (Multiple States, Federal).
:Internal controls and policies and procedures.
:Financial reporting and variance analysis.
:Financial planning (budgeting and forecasting) and analysis.
:Business systems evaluation and optimization.
:Professional development : Training, Coaching, and Mentoring.
Your success will be measured by your ability to:
:Design and manage an organization structure and staffing to accomplish the department objectives in a cost:effective and efficient manner.
:Direct, manage and perform the day:to:day operations of the accounting function, including accounts payable and vendor payments, payroll, fixed assets, ownership equity, and cash management.
:Implement accounting methodologies and processes that result in accurate transactional records, reconciliations, etc. in support of timely financial reporting.
:Ensure a timely month:end close process that provides meaningful and consistently prepared financial statements and analysis to CFO and other members of the management team.
:Work cooperatively across the organization and within accounting and finance to identify, develop, recommend and implement cost:effective and appropriate systems and processes to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
:Control expenses and achieve budget objectives by providing accurate information and analysis to management team; facilitate others to obtain buy:in for the possible solutions and support Operational units to implement the solution.
:Maintain regulatory compliance through timely preparation of required tax and other filings.
:Research technical accounting, tax, and reporting issues.
:Partner with the CFO and other members of the management team to evolve planning processes that support the growth of the organization and sound decision making.
:Prepare analyses and other information necessary to support strategic and other financial decisions as needed.
:Recruit, manage, evaluate, and provide ongoing training to accounting and finance staff.
Knowledge, Experience and Education:
:Minimum 10 years of experience obtained through increasingly responsible positions within accounting and finance with at least 3 years of management experience.
:Excellent GAAP accounting knowledge, experiences in cost accounting is a big plus.
:Knowledge of automated financial and reporting systems, Microsoft Office products, and other tools commonly used by accounting and finance teams. ERP system experience is higher desired.
:Working knowledge of financial planning process: Budget and forecast development, product:line, customer and business profitability analysis.
:Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance and CPA. MBA a plus.
