The objective of the position is to support THE CONTROLLER, SALES MANAGER, AND INDUSTRIAL OPERATIONS engineer with accurate and timely reporting.

The Staff Accountant is charged with several primary responsibilities:
1) Manage all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions including documenting the processes and controls.
2) Process the biweekly payroll for 40 employees, implementing payroll features such as external garnishments, employee loans, retirement contributions, medical insurance deductions and support orders.
3) Assist with the monthly close process for Portland Kettle Works and 2 other related entities.
Create/prepare/manage the reporting of ongoing operating metrics and be comfortable explaining these metrics to the controller and the rest of the PKW team.
5) File various local, state, and federal tax documents and reports.
6) Partner with the Operations Manager to build a process of timely purchasing of appropriate levels of inventory. This includes a physical inventory count at month end.
7) Partner with the Sales Manager to provide world class customer service to our clients.
8) Assist with Managing outbound logistics both domestic and international shipping
9) Maintain filing, scanning, and records/data management.
10) Support other departments (Sales, Customer Service, Operations) as needed.


: Bachelors degree in accounting
: 2:3 years of accounting experience
: Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles
: Strong understanding of internal control objectives and applications
: Proficiency with Microsoft Excel/Word
: Experience with QuickBooks a plus, but not required
: Ability to work with minimal supervision
: Ability to work collaboratively with other departments
: Ability to balance multiple projects
: Attention to detail and good organization skills
: Professional level written and verbal communication skills
: A good sense of humor and passion for the job
