Matrix Absence Management is one of the top Third Party Administrators (TPA) supporting clients in absence management
(FMLA/Disability/Workers Compensation). We partner with our clients Human Resources department to manage Workers Compensation, Disability and/or Leave of absences until the claim is resolved or the employee returns to work. Our highly customer centric approach is to try and duplicate the culture of our clients to make the experience seamless for employees. Our mobile app technology provides ease of use to our client and employee in reporting claim information.
Position Summary:
Responsible for providing vocational services to individuals with disabilities as a result of illness or injury. Works collaboratively with claims examiners, employees, employers and health care professionals to facilitate the return to work process of employees allowing them to reach an optimal level of work and functioning.
Duties and Responsibilities:
:Reviews claims and identifies files for vocational intervention by self:referrals and referrals from claims examiners. Determines the feasibility of providing a wide variety of vocational services which may include occupational analysis/DOT, return to work facilitation, job search assistance, transferable skills and labor market surveys.
:Contacts employer to obtain job analysis, clarify understanding of job requirements, recommend possible accommodations and facilitate return to work of employees.
:Works with physicians and other health care providers to facilitate return to work by providing job analysis, accommodation recommendations and answering questions the physician may have in regards to the patients ability to return to work.
:Where possible, identifies barriers to return to work and proposes solutions for consideration by supervisor/manager and health care providers. If transitional work is not available, documents rationale in claim system.
:Tracks and documents transitional work efforts in claims notes and monitors employees progress during period of transitional work until employee is released to full duty or restrictions and limitations are permanent.
:Determines work capacity, compares the full range of occupational demands with medically supported restrictions to assist the claims examiner in evaluating own:occupation or any occupation benefit liability. As needed, evaluates the employees training, education and work experience to identify transferable skills.
:Provides a vocational opinion through the utilization of vocational resources which may include nationally recognized sources (i.e. Dictionary of Occupational Titles), internet research, vocational software to analyze and research jobs (i.e. OASYS), to identify exertion level of occupations, accommodations, transferable skills, feasibility of alternative occupations, and to identify the availability of jobs within a labor market.
:Develops implements and coordinates vocational rehabilitation plans of action with selected employees. Supervises services contracted to private rehabilitation companies.
:Provides vocational input in claim meetings and leads discussions to facilitate appropriate vocational intervention in collaboration with claims professionals to set claim strategy.
:Partners with claims professionals for RTW opportunities, vocational and occupational analyses and vocational research.
:Communicates with claims examiners, employees,
managers/supervisors and Human Resources in a professional, positive and proactive manner.
:Maintains necessary credentials (CRC).
:Works collaboratively across all internal departments.
