Description: Engage and collaborate with, and provide operational, technical and clinical workflow design expertise to business and clinical leadership, clinicians, and teams to analyze, design, build and implement innovative technical strategies and tools to optimize the use and integration of KP Health Connect applications to provide high quality, patient-centered, and affordable care.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Provide operational and information systems expertise in the analysis, development, training, testing, optimization and application of KP HealthConnect (KPHC) business and clinical systems. Collaborate to provide functionality and Epic modules expertise and information to regional leadership, clinicians, staff, brokers, employers, professional organizations and vendors including Epic Systems Corporation.
  • Resolve complex production problems and enhancements in the KPHC systems. Collaborate with work teams, departments, regional leadership, clinicians, staff, and information technology to define clinical workflows and technology needs, facilitate agreements and decisions, influence change and drive improvement that achieves the triple aim. Plan execution of small projects including user communication, support and post implementation review.
  • Assess customer needs, research options, support analysis, design, test and implement application solutions, including but not limited to developing tools to meet specific department, team or strategic needs and optimize decision support capabilities; identifying and defining requirements to improve the human-computer interface; defining and developing tools and interface solutions to support end-to-end population health management.
  • Configure and build complex features and new modules for integration with installed Epic applications. Plan and Lead relevant workflow sessions and manage resulting workflow changes. Direct configuration activities in Epic system to resolve problems escalated to the KPHC Operations department. Work collaboratively with Healthy Planet AC and other ACs to minimize ongoing project support/maintenance. Set up and test configuration to resolve complex patient safety problems modifications and enhancement. Build, maintain and update application master files and category lists to ensure data integrity and maintain synchronization with Enterprise Collaborative Build updates. Adhere to change management policies and SOX policy documentation requirements.
  • Provide operational and information system expertise for new version upgrades, optimization of current functionality, and incorporation of new modules in the KPHC business and clinical systems. Test complex system changes, develop training materials and in some cases providing hands on training, assess workflow impact and solutions, and manage deployment. QA test script development; test data validation; test results analysis, defect and problem resolution and identification of problem fix.
  • Review, analyze and recommend implementation of Epic Systems release notes. Analyze Change Requests for impact and costs. Communicate and assist with implementation of changes to business partners.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum four (4) years of experience in health care administration, information systems, business, a health care profession, library science or information resource management
  • Bachelor's degree in health care administration, information systems, business, a health care profession, library science or information resource management or related field OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required
    License, Certification, Registration
  • Current Oregon OR Washington RN license in state where assigned required upon hire/transfer
  • Epic Certification required within 12 months of hire

    Additional Requirements:
  • Experience on at least one (1) major system implementation
  • Certified/Proficient in two (2) Epic modules or application sup-components
  • Demonstrated skills in complex project management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large multidisciplinary teams through influence and collaboration
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computer applications in business settings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must exhibit efficiency, collaboration, candor, openness, and results orientation
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to Scope and estimate small enhancements

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience using at least one of the Epic suite of application products or completion of Epic certification in an application(s)
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience at Kaiser Permanente
  • Knowledge of functional areas and/ or systems analysis
  • Knowledge of research and analyses /design
  • Demonstrated experience leading a large multidisciplinary project to successful completion
  • Demonstrated skills in conflict resolution
  • Public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated experience with office software, e.g., Power Point, Excel, Word and/or MS Project, Visio
  • Direct experience implementing business information systems in the Northwest region

  • Advanced degree in medical informatics, computer science or a related health care field
