Maintenance Planner

Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Maintenance Planner to be located in St. Helens, OR. Reporting to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Planner will be responsible for planning and organizing staffing for maintenance down day work as well as coordinating outside contractors for necessary equipment installations. Additionally, the Maintenance Planner will be responsible for effectively owning and managing capital and facilities projects comprising of up to 1 million annual expenditure.

Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Planner:
:Designing systems to ensure planning and scheduling are streamlined and consistent
:Generating down day worksheets for all production and maintenance preventive maintenance work
:Determining proper division of work between Armstrong and outside contractors and secures special equipment as required
:Coordinating activities of all contractors and manages multiple contractor activities including job performance and compliance with plant safety practices
:Leading down:day planning process; manages work order planning and scheduling processes
:Estimating the labor, parts, materials, tools and equipment required to perform the work specified for approximately 500 work orders each month for 21 mechanical and electrical crafts persons plus contractors
:Assisting in developing and managing the annual maintenance budget
:Managing facilities processes related to life safety, fire protection and building code compliance and training
:Managing for plant site inspections
:Analyzing in:house skills capacity of mechanical and electrical technicians vs. outside labor and provide cost:effective recommendations to senior management
:Preparing and documents master job plans for repetitive jobs including SAP generated production and maintenance preventive maintenance work

Required Qualifications for the Maintenance Planner:
:High School Diploma or GED
:5+ years of experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment as a maintenance planner, maintenance technician, or engineering
:2+ years of experience as a Maintenance Planner or related job function that includes organizing and planning maintenance work as well as managing outside contractors
:Demonstrated experience with project management, planning and executing capital projects
:Self:starter who can function in a semi:autonomous environment
:Must possess the necessary communication skills to work successfully with other departments, production/maintenance technicians and outside contractors
:Safety leadership as demonstrated by basic knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and building code regulations that pertain to specific work projects, properly assessing safety risks for maintenance technicians and contractors, and acting as a role model for safe work practices
:Ability to climb ladders and walk catwalks, etc., in order to monitor contractor work

Desired Qualifications for the Maintenance Planner:
:Two year technical degree from an accredited college or technical school
:Prior experience in the building products and/or pulp and paper industries
:Demonstrated moderate to advanced skills in SAP or related maintenance management system
:Familiarity and hands:on experience with maintenance reliability processes


About the Location (St. Helens, OR)

Our St Helens Plant, one of five Armstrong ceiling plants in North America, employs approximately 150 people in the manufacturing and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrongs customers.
