The Post-Secondary Success Program supports middle and high school students in the development of skills and knowledge for success in middle school, high school, college and beyond. Whatever a student's next step is, our program works to critically engage students in their education, increase academic confidence, create inclusion and promote engagement.Open School and the Post-Secondary Success Program recognize that there is an historic and persistent achievement gap between white students and students of color; closing that achievement gap while raising the achievement of all students is a top priority of our organization. We aim to provide equitable educational programming and outcomes through the promotion of diversity throughout our organization, participation in racial equity training and implementation of culturally responsive teaching practices. AmeriCorps members serving with the Post-Secondary Success Program serve at one of three service sites in the Portland metro- Open School North, Open School East and Trillium Charter School.Members will receive professional development in working with under-served youth, redirection of behavior, racial equity, culturally responsive teaching practices, trauma-informed teaching, youth development, leadership and volunteer engagement. The Post-Secondary Success program seeks members who have a desire to serve in a diverse community and a willingness to work across differences.
