Oregon Outreach Inc. is a nonprofit alternative high school program that contracts with local school districts to provide at- risk students the opportunity to graduate with a standard Oregon State diploma. OOI is based in Portland and has three sites: McCoy Academy, Scappoose, Molalla, and Vernonia. Please visit our website for more information on Oregon Outreach Inc.: www.oregonoutreach.org.

OOI is seeking two high qualified licensed teachers for current sites and new sites to be opened for the 2017-18 school year. There are two positions opening up, one in North Portland and the other in Vernonia. Any area of certification is welcome at this time.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

These part-time professional positions (30 hours per week) provide classroom instruction for alternative school students in a small setting. This may include small group or one-on-one tutorials, small group direct instruction, and/or team teaching. OOI teachers must be able to provide instruction in a variety of subjects along with their certification area. This position requires a teacher to work very well in a close co-teaching environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Teaching license is required, Oregon State certification is preferred, out of state certification may be acceptable while provisional or permanent certification is being arranged.
Experience and/or education may be accepted without certification in some cases.
Teachers must have experience and/or demonstrated ability to work effectively with at-risk and diverse youth, and proven ability to work as a member of a small team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate with site lead teacher to create interdisciplinary, problem-based curriculum that includes differentiation strategies to meet our student's unique needs. This includes aligning course goals to Common Core state standards.
Create new curriculum under supervision of lead teacher and using approved process.
Develop trusting relationships that support and assist student populations with transition goals of post-secondary education/employment.
Assist with administrative duties as needed.
Completing other responsibilities as needed, assigned by supervisor.
