What you’ll be doing...

You will be passionate about technology, drones, aviation, or all of the above. You’re a driven self-starter with experience building Java/Javascript SaaS applications, architecting their Javascript front ends, and leading and mentoring teams’ front-end Javascript thinking and practices. As a Full-Stack Engineer you will use both JavaScript and Java technologies to design, develop, and implement new capabilities for the Skyward Software Platform. You have experience with solution architecture, peer mentorship, and implementation of best practices for client-side development. Particularly, you are experienced in both React and Angular, in leveraging architectural patterns for integrating the strengths of both within one application, in leading the coding effort for those. You will also perform software maintenance duties including debugging and defect resolution as well as production support. You will participate in a collaborative Agile team to analyze user requirements and envision design approaches that will lead to customer delight. You will take active part in the design of the user interfaces to ensure Skyward’s customers have a great experience using the Platform as they run drone businesses around the world.

Responsibilities and Duties
●Actively participate as part of a team of engineers responsible for the Skyward Software Platform including Web, Mobile, and Services.
●Participate in product specifications through rapid iterative prototyping and UI simulations in code with live data.
●Use JavaScript, Angularjs, React, CSS3, HTML5, and explore other cutting-edge technologies to create new features
●Use Java (and related frameworks such as Spring Boot) and data stores (Postgres with PostGIS) to create scalable web services using REST/JSON or other formats (e.g. protocol buffers).
●Coordinate schedules and activities with engineering team; contribute to team meetings and retrospectives.
●Work with UX specialists to make interfaces appealing, easy, attractive and simple.
●Collaborate with platform and b/e architects to improve architectural patterns to ensure scalable, reusable, reliable implementations
●Provide mentorship for the team to unite around best practices for client-side web development and common use of Skyward’s architectural patterns
●Create testable, well documented code; troubleshoot; participate in code reviews; and optimize front-end performance.
●Recommend system solutions for user requirements by comparing advantages and disadvantages; provide estimates and on-going status via relative sizing, burn-downs and stand-ups.
●Keep abreast of technology trends and best practices.
●Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
●Willingness to pitch-in and help others on the team

What we’re looking for...

●Development expertise with a solid foundation in Javascript, Angularjs, React, HTML5, and CSS3
●Specifically, expertise and experience leveraging architectural patterns for integrating Angularjs and React frameworks and functionality
●Experience with building responsive Single Page Applications using RESTful web services and processing JSON data
●Experience with Java enterprise systems (and related frameworks like Spring Boot), SSO frameworks/approaches, and data stores
●Experience with continuous integration application delivery, including provisioning, deployment, testing and version control
●Experience developing and implementing automated unit tests using technologies like JUnit, JSUnit and other xUnit testing frameworks
●Experience leveraging agile, embracing agile practices and agile mindset
●Experience and desire to mentor less experienced engineers into the ways and practices of the Jedi
Required
●Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
●Minimum 2+ years experience as a full-stack lead for enterprise systems composed of common APIs consumed by both web applications leveraging Javascript frameworks and mobile applications
●5+ years of front-end development experience
●1+ years of backend RESTful services experience (any language/framework)
●2+ years integrating Angularjs and React frameworks and functionality
●2+ years experience with relational database technologies (Postgres, MySql, etc) including SQL
●Java, Web Programming Skills, Web User Interface Design, Software Requirements, Software Development Process, Object-Oriented Design (OOD), Software Debugging
●Ability to work in a highly collaborative agile team
●Demonstrated aptitude and desire to learn new skills
●Excellent written and verbal communication skills
●Ability to embrace change and work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment
●Ability to develop a deep understanding of the commercial UAS marketplace and customers’ needs.
●Willing to relocate to Portland, OR
Preferred
●Experience working in a startup environment
●Familiarity with web application testing solutions such as Selenium
●PostGIS experience
●Experience flying drones for business or pleasure (Part 107 certification preferred)
