## Work Unit Description
The Developmental Brain Imaging Lab has been studying brain development in healthy and at-risk youth for several years. Studying this crucial time in development is necessary to enhance our understanding of changes in the developing brain and ways to prevent and treat such things as substance abuse and mood disorders that emerge during adolescence.

## Functions/Duties of Position
This Research Assistant 2 will be heavily involved in the recruitment, screening, and scheduling of study participants for the Adolescent Brain and Cognitive Development (ABCD) Study. This landmark study is a collaborative effort by top researchers across the United States and will follow 10,000+ healthy children from age 9-10 into early adulthood. The project will measure brain maturation in the context of social, emotional and cognitive development. Families who enroll in this project will take part in a number of different activities every year. The study will involve 1-2 baseline visits and yearly follow-up.
The Research Assistant will assist with study visits, including clinical interviews, neuropsychological and behavioral assessment, and the acquisition and basic processing of structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) data. He/she will also assist with administrative-related tasks for the project, including database management, data entry, and other general office duties in support of the goals of the study.
## Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor s degree (4 yr) with major courses in field of research OR Associate's degree (2 yr) and three years of relevant experience
* Previous experience working with children/families
* Sufficient computer knowledge to interface with a variety of database, statistical, and imaging task and processing software, such as Excel, SPSS, Access, Linux, AFNI, FSL, Presentation, and E-Prime
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact effectively with children, adolescents and families
* Effective in organizing tasks, setting priorities, multi-taking, and working efficiently with minimum oversight
* Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as in a team environment
* Ability to be adaptable, creative and a quick learner
* Ability to carry and/or lift up to 40 pounds
* Ability to complete 3T MRI operator training at OHSU (CPR training is a prerequisite)
* Evening and weekend availability will be required as well as local travel
Preferred Qualifications:
* Degree in a behavioral science field
* Prior research and/or clinical experience.
