All we need is a solid, professional drummer between the ages of 21-23. We are the Christian Burghardt band, singer and songwriter Christian Burghardt's solo project comprised of acoustic guitar, vocals, lead guitar, bass and drums. We also play along to loops and a click track. Check us out at www.myspace.com/christianburghardt

Smart Bass Player with Chops and Dynamics Wanted (Milwaukie)

This is a new project. All original material. We are not established yet and we are very much in the writing stages. Not all the pieces are there yet but the core is very solid and has incredible writing and technical skills.

What we have -
A solid drummer
An incredible guitar player and song writer
A smokin keyboard player and song writer (thats me)
A groovy rhythm guitar player
About seven songs in various stages of completion
Killer practice space, recording capable (actually we record all our practices)
Good attitudes (we like having fun but if your idea of rehearsal is getting wasted don't bother. We'll have to kick your ass and then the cops get involved... just save us the trouble)

What we need -
You, if you're a good bass player who is looking for some creative license and fun.
Lead Vocals

The plan is to round out the rhythm section, record some songs, then search for vocals. We have some high hopes. The written material is still evolving but is very cerebral. It's on the order of Tool, Alice in Chains, Joe Satriani (I know, one of these things is not like the other but if you can imagine their bastard child...).

About us -

We're all in our mid thirties (except for our Drummer, he's old (ok, he's 40)). We have lots of experience on our instruments and pro gear. Tim, drummer, and I are coming off a 4 year stint in a cover band. We realized that we had some pent up creativity that needed an outlet. We stumbled on a killer guitar player, Will, and started writing and haven’t looked back. Will and I have an excellent creative repoire and a strong theory background, Tim is always right there with a creative beat or two or 7. Jeff likes to hang out on rhythm guitar and rounds out our sound. The majority of the tunes right now are 4/4 but we are looking to experiment with off meter and have been experimenting with creative rhythms and chord changes. The music is slower and dark, lots of minor tonality and a few upbeat numbers as well. We don't have any expectations for the music right now. It just seems to happen.

What we want from you -

Rule #1: Don't be a dick! If you don't have any friends and your mom never calls you, you're a dick. We won't get along with you and we'll have to kick your ass (see above). Seriously though, personality matters a lot. It creates the environment that we create in.
Please have some gear. Something that sounds good and can cut through the other instruments if needed.
Have some experience. Nothing is worse than meeting a cool guy/gal who attracts wildebeest in heat when he/she plays. Again, the asskicking, blah, blah, blah.
Commit or don't. If you miss a practice, cool. We all have lives. But call ahead and don't make a habit out of it or, you guessed it...

So in conclusion, be awesome, and cool, and good on your instrument. If you still have questions please call Dustin (503) 752-4806. It's my business line too so don't freak out if I answer it as such.

Bass needed for "Latin-punk"

Hey, this excellent drummer and I have been working on creating a hybrid of Latin rhythms, punk energy, and post-punk craziness. I play guitar and yell, and we need bass to fill out the sound. We've recorded a few songs, on which I played bass, which you can hear here:

www.myspace.com/guitarsasguns

Think Bad Brains vs. Ruben Blades. Some other influences include Hector Lavoe, Fugazi, 8 y Mas, Explode Into Colors, Sonic Youth, Carlinhos Brown, The Jesus Lizard, PiL, Santana, Willie Colon, Desi Arnaz, Pretty Girls Make Graves, etc.

Classic Rock Band Looking for 16-18 year old electric guitarist and vocalist

posted: October 28, 2009, 04:04 PM

Replybluehairedguitarist@gmail.com

We are a starting band with a drummer and bassist, and are located in SW. Our band influences are Led Zeppelin, CCR, AC/DC, The Beatles, The Who, Rush, among other classic rock bands. As stated in the title, we are high school seniors who are searching for similar-aged musicians (16-18 years old) who perform the stated instruments. A guitarist who can also do lead vocals is welcomed, although not a requirement. If you can write music, that would be a plus, although is not a requirement either.

We are looking for those musicians who have around 6 to 18 months of experience on the instrument. For guitarists, a decent knowledge of chords and reading sheet music is a requirement, and all applicants need to be familiar with the works of our band influences/rock genre.

If you are going to be in college in the next two years, we are asking that all applicants be within a decent radius of the area (with Portland State as the relative limit for distance away for college students). If you are attending Lewis and Clark, U of P, PCC Sylvania, Reed College or any other local college in the Portland area, you are eligible to apply.

To apply, contact us by phone/text Alex at 503-707-6539 or Matt at 503-853-4169. If you prefer e-mail, contact us at bluehairedguitarist@gmail.com.

If you like Alice in Chains, STP, Tool, Bloodhound Gang, Hed PE, Soundgarden, Cage the Elephant, or anything else that rocks, we're looking for you. Auditions are this weekend. Strings rock and TOP NOTCH VOCALS. We need a drummer who is dynamic and isn't afraid to ROCK when needed. Our tunes are written, we'll teach you and get started on some great gigs right away. Recording has started, we need the right drummer to finish that project.

WE are 30 ish, determined, and not TOO serious. We like to drink beer and have fun at practice and are always writing new tunes.

If you can learn quickly, shoot me an e-mail to set up an audition, we practice on SE 7th and Market, we have a kit you can use, bring your own cymbals and sticks, cymbal stands are provided, you can bring your kit when we decide to accept you as a member of the band.

We: singer/guitar and drummer. cool guys who simply live music.
smart/melodic/agressive alt rock. several shows under our belt.

You: bassist who is not a converted guitarist who can harmonize.
Someone who wants to find a home in a band. Not rock as a hobby.

We have cycled through 2 unqualified bassists already and are a little vexed at seeing our friends go on tour while wishing someone with some balls would appear. We are very talented and very serious and, well, we take this very seriously. But seriously, being in a great band that has momentum is the only kind of reality we're interested in. What about you.
